Ondine

Just finished watching Ondine, a beautifully done film starring Colin Farrell and Alicja Bachleda. It's a modern day fairytale of the myth about selkies, which are mermaids/seal women in many cultures. A fisherman catches a woman in his net one day, who changes his life. He gradually falls in love with her, and her mysterious ways. His young daughter believes that she is a selkie, given her mystifying appearance. As the plot unravels, we find that this is not your typical fairytale, but rather a complicated story with dark undertones. The characters are not as they seem, nor is the situation. You'll have to watch to see what happens!
It really is a gorgeous film, mostly because it was shot along the Irish coast. The cinematography is extremely well done. Also the music is pitch perfect for the tone of the movie. I wish I could get the soundtrack, but sadly I do not think it exists.
This just might be my new favorite movie.
