Lanvin for H&M!

Guess who waited for two hours in the freezing cold in front of H&M yesterday? And guess who is now the proud owner of two pieces from the Lanvin for H&M collection?
ME!!!
Super excited about the skirt that I got! I've secretly been wearing it in my room, considering it's a bit much to wear outside. Plus it looks better with stilettos, which I'm not about to wear out here. I need an occasion to wear my new skirt and Kelsi Dagger shoes!
Sadly, I'm a starving college student, and thus cannot afford to own everything in the collection. I wanted everything! But I had to make some choice decisions, and did my best not to cry over leaving behind the gorgeous dresses. Who knows, maybe someday I'll be able to own real Lanvin!

Winnings

So my prize from Refinery29 finally came!!! I won some makeup from Maybelline in one of their giveaways! I can't recall what the contest was, or what I posted in order to win, but who cares? I GOT FREE MAKEUP!
Excited to test it out :)

P.S. Here's what I wore today also...

what if we died in space?

I realize that I am absolutely terrible at keeping up with this blog. Will try harder this month...
For now, I thought I'd share my favorite poem that I read in a literature magazine I used to subscribe to called Cicada:

as my eardrums yielded to my body's pressure
i would whisper thickly to you but
what would carry my words to you-
exploding in your own right?
our eyes would swirl off together:
a tiny quartet of mutual revolution
our shirts, torn to pieces by the bloom
of ribcages, would create magnificent
venues of billowing cotton and polyester
our muscles would unfurl: a red carpet
for two unlucky hearts to make their debut
they would go
careening towards each other
would collide and spawn
an asteroid, a sad love story

and my whisper would hang in the cosmos:
the stars are beautiful tonight

what if we died in space?

First Day of School!

Wearing: DIY shirt, AA shorts, Lia Sophia ring, Minnetonka moccasins

Just got back from my first class, which was slightly terrifying, to say the least. It was a 300-level literature class about satire. We shall see how that goes... Next I've got Spanish, which I'm really excited about! And then maybe I'll crash one of the many classes I didn't get into :P
It's quite a lovely day today.

LIGHTS

via Lights

I've recently acquired some new music! One is Lights' new EP, Acoustic. Lights is an amazing musician and ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! Seriously. I love her style! She is all-around adorable basically. My favorite song off the new EP is 'Romance Is...', which is beautiful. I'm pretty sure I've listened to that song on repeat for the past two days. Really, the entire EP is great. Is there anything better than acoustic? Don't think so.
Here's another good song from her!

College!

Wearing: Shirt from UO, skirt from Gap, Laredo boots

I feel terrible that ever since I got here, I haven't written a single post! It's been so hectic starting a new school and being in a new place. Hopefully it will get easier to balance everything...
For now, here's an outfit post.

Off to NY!

I am about to leave for New York City! (Quite literally as my flight is in about two hours...) I'm so excited because I've never really spent a lot of time in NY. Looking back on all the places I've been to, I've spent time in every major city except NYC. We're going a bit early before I have to start school. That's right! I'm going off to college. I'm looking forward to a new year and new people! I just hope I remembered to pack everything. Sorry about the lack of posts recently, I've been running around like a mad woman trying to see people last minute and get various things done that I probably should have gotten done a lot earlier...
Here's a pretty cool picture that I took at Disneyland!
Oh how I shall miss California.

What I wore

So yesterday I went to Disneyland and California Adventure with some of my good buds. I can't believe it, but we spent 15 hours there! It was such a long day, but we had so much fun, time honestly flew by.
Finally got a chance to test out my new boots and a new shirt I got the other day!
~
Shirt: My Story
Pants: Silence and Noise
Shoes: Laredo

What I wore

Wearing: Shirt from Forever21, jeans from UO, thrifted Minkpink vest, gifted bag

Just something I wore out the other day.

New boots

My new boots that I have been lusting for these past few months are finally here!  I'm so excited to wear them! I found them on Etsy, which is this amazing site to buy and sell clothes, or vintage items. The brand of boots that I ended up going with is Laredo, because the laces are great and they have a removable fringe on the front part.  I got them fairly cheap and hardly worn, which is great! Will test them out very soon :)

Fun day

Wearing: Shirt from Anthropologie, shorts from H&M, hat from Forever21

Today was a great day! I went to the Spectrum with my good friend Stephanie :), where we browsed around a few shops and ultimately ended up in Urban Outfitters (of course). As much as I love that store, unfortunately I do not have the budget to afford an entire UO wardrobe. Usually you can find some really great deals in the sale section though. I can't tell you how many times I've walked away with items under $10! Stephanie got a super cute blue and white striped shirt and a pair of shorts that are to die for!
Later, went to see Inception (again), which is AMAZING! It really is a must see! Plus, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is insanely cute :)
Sadly, I didn't take any pictures today, but here's a picture of what I wore when I went to the Getty museum yesterday!

What I wore

Wearing: Dress and hat from H&M, hat from UO, vintage Coach bag

Hello there! Just a quick post on what I wore yesterday. Went to the pool and got my daily dose of tea. Really, nothing interesting happened. But that's what summer's all about, right?

All Alright - Sigur Ros

I don't think I have to tell you how amazing this song is.

Just listen.

New computer!

Wearing: Shirt from Forever 21, Shorts from H&M

Just got a new computer!!! Super excited. It's a MacBook Pro and I absolutely LOVE it. I'm still getting used to it, because it's so different from the PC I had before.
Decided to take an outfit picture for the first time on here :)
I promise, I'll try to  do more outfit pictures now that I'm home.

Last Week!

It's my last week here at San Francisco Conservatory of Dance! I've had so much fun this summer dancing and running around San Fran (when we had the energy haha). Favorite parts have definitely been going to Haight-Ashbury, North Beach, Ghirardelli Square, Japantown and Chinatown. My roommate is pretty much the most awsome person you will ever meet. There is definitely never a dull moment with her :)
I've learned so much here, and have really enjoyed all of my classes. I'm sad to be leaving so soon! The performance is on Friday and Saturday, so we're getting ready! It's going to be so much fun!

What I wore

Wearing: Dress from Urban Outfitters, boots from Cathy Jean
So I realized that I haven't really posted any daily outfit photos. Quite tragic considering I just went shopping on Haight St. last weekend. I must admit, it's been difficult to put anything together when I'm spending most of the day indoors and in dance clothes. Sweats and baggy tees really aren't that attractive...
Don't get me wrong, I totally do dress up in normal clothes to go to class! But I always forget to take a picture in the morning before I leave :P
P.s. Sorry for the super crappy picture quality. These were taken on my webcam.

Haight-Ashbury and Boots

Today I took a little trip with my roommate Kate, down to Haight-Ashbury! Well, I guess it wasn't really that little considering we spent over 6 hours walking up down the street... It was an absolutely gorgeous day, especially for San Francisco. We pretty much went into a majority of the stores, especially the vintage and secondhand clothing stores, as well as a few boutiques. I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderful secondhand clothing stores are. They're cheap (usually) and so eclectic, that you can always find a variety of different styles of clothing. Buffalo Exchange is one of my favorites! That, and Second Time Around in Boston :)
I took pictures, but I'll have to post them later, preferably at a more reasonable hour.
The boots you see pictured at the top are what I am desperately lusting for. I just really want some lace-up brown ankle boots!

6.26.2010

New dress

I just realized that I never posted any pictures of my new dress! Which I made myself - skillfully, might I add... I just really love the sleeves! I'm really a fan of long-sleeved, short dresses. This pattern was super easy, and a fun project! It really didn't take long to make.  I started the whole project over Christmas break, but ran out of time to finish it. So I really only finished it when I got home for summer. I was really pround of myself because it turned out so well :)
Now I just need to find somewhere to wear it...

Ondine

Just finished watching Ondine, a beautifully done film starring Colin Farrell and Alicja Bachleda. It's a modern day fairytale of the myth about selkies, which are mermaids/seal women in many cultures. A fisherman catches a woman in his net one day, who changes his life. He gradually falls in love with her, and her mysterious ways. His young daughter believes that she is a selkie, given her mystifying appearance. As the plot unravels, we find that this is not your typical fairytale, but rather a complicated story with dark undertones. The characters are not as they seem, nor is the situation. You'll have to watch to see what happens!
It really is a gorgeous film, mostly because it was shot along the Irish coast. The cinematography is extremely well done. Also the music is pitch perfect for the tone of the movie. I wish I could get the soundtrack, but sadly I do not think it exists.
This just might be my new favorite movie.

Preen

Hello all! Sorry it's been a while... I've been extremely busy with dance and things, and have also been without internet connection for the past few days. Having said that, I'm also behind on the latest Resort 2011 collections.
So without further ado, here's my take on Preen's latest collection!
It's a really clean, concise collection, but don't mistake it for being plain. The complexity is in the details! You definitely have to look closely to see all of the subtle work in the folds and draping. I really like the overall feel of the collection - it's relaxed, and a lot of the looks compliment the body nicely. There's a good balance between structured pieces, like jackets and pants, and softer draped tops and dresses. One look that I am basically in love with is a blue and white printed dress with an interesting shoulder cut out paired with a blue sweater with elbow slits in the sleeves. All of the dresses are great, really.
I think I would wear everything in this collection.

Zero + Maria Cornejo + Joshua Radin

All photos (c) Zero + Maria Cornejo
I'm pretty crazy about the Zero + Maria Cornejo resort 2011 collection. She's a master a draping - something I hope to master at some point in the future. Actually, I should probably practice sewing in general first. Baby steps, baby steps. Anyways, going through her collection, one thing that really caught my attention was the color palate. The dark blues, various shades of greys, and occasional hints of oranges all go really well together! The fabrics and prints she uses are all really beautiful. She also has a good eye for detail. All of the subtle pleating and twists of fabric really stand out.
I would absolutely love to get my hands on a pair of those black structured pants and any one of her amazing jackets or dresses. Actually, I would be estatic to have anything from that collection.

On another note (haha), you should really check out Joshua Radin's latest masterpiece. It's his Songs Under a Streetlight EP done in true Joshua Radin style - mellow, yet powerful vocals, accompanied by piano, and this time with a full band as well. His voice alone is soothing and absolutely beautiful. For only 2.99 on itunes, you really should consider buying it! Or at least get his song Streetlight.

Bread Pudding

Today I made some bread pudding! It turned out really great, except I botched the sauce that was supposed to go with it... Oops! Nevertheless, it was still delicious. Bread pudding is amazing and pretty hard to mess up :)

Collages

Happy June! Supposedly, it's supposed to be June gloom, but today was pretty nice.
Honestly, not much going on on this end of the Earth. Currently just doing some collage-ing, and on the hunt for new music.

Just Beachy

Wearing: (Me) H&M shirt, American Apparel shorts, Coach bag (Natalie) Nordstroms dress
Yesterday I spent the day with one of my really good friends, Natalie! It was such a nice day that we decided to take a little trip down to the Shake Shack off PCH. It's really just a small Ruby's stand, but you just order your milkshakes from the window and enjoy them facing an amazing view of the ocean. I absolutely love looking at the water. It's so sparkly and filled with so many shades of blue and green. I am going to miss it next year...
Then we went to the pool to swim and cool off. All in all, a good day.

Not-So-Little Black Dress

All images (c) Style.com

Wearing: Black dress from Mason, hat from Urban Outfitters
Rather inspired by Bottega Veneta's Resort 2011 collection. I really liked the simplicity of the dresses and the effortlessly slouchy pants. Everything just looks so comfortable!
Mine's perhaps a bit more frilly, but I think the long, black dress works even in this heat. I actually got it when I was in Boston this past spring at a Second Time Around store. A bit long, but I'm infatuated. It's one of those dresses where you can dress it up, or dress it down. I could definitely pair this with some sandals and a floppy hat and be off to the beach :)

Now all I need is a bathing suit...
